Custom Surfboards from an OEM Surfboard Manufacturer in China

4S Sports is a custom surfboard manufacturer in China serving surf brands, distributors, retailers, surf schools, and private-label programs. We develop rigid and soft-top surfboards to customer specifications, from an initial design brief or CAD file through sampling and production. Buyers can define the target rider, wave range, construction, dimensions, volume, rocker, rails, bottom contour, tail, fin system, artwork, and packaging. Our role is to turn that brief into a repeatable product with clear checkpoints for appearance, dimensions, and function.

  • Surfboard Types for Different Markets

A complete range starts with the right category—not a generic shape stretched into every size. We can develop the following programs to your confirmed specification:

  • Shortboards

Performance-oriented shapes with lower volume, refined rails, and responsive rocker for experienced surfers and more powerful surfing.

  • Longboards

Traditional or performance longboard outlines, typically with greater length and volume for glide, stability, and small-wave usability.

  • Funboards and mid-lengths

Versatile shapes that bridge shortboards and longboards, offering easier paddling and wave entry without giving up maneuverability.

  • Fish surfboards

Wider, fuller outlines commonly paired with swallow tails and twin- or quad-fin configurations for speed in weaker surf.

  • Soft-top and foam surfboards

User-friendly boards for schools, rentals, beginners, and family markets, with construction and deck/bottom materials subject to program confirmation.

  • OEM/ODM Customization for Your Brand

Our original equipment manufacturing (OEM) service follows your approved design, while original design manufacturing (ODM) support helps refine a concept into a production-ready specification. Depending on the program, customization can cover outline, length, width, thickness, volume, rocker, rail profile, bottom contour, tail geometry, glassing schedule, fin-box layout, color, logos, deck pads, labels, and packaging. We can work from CAD data, technical drawings, a reference sample, or a detailed product brief. Tooling, sample approval, tolerances, and intellectual-property terms should be agreed before mass production.

  • Construction Systems Matched to the Product

For conventional fiberglass surfboards, material compatibility is fundamental. A traditional PU build uses a polyurethane foam blank laminated with fiberglass and polyester resin. An EPS build uses an expanded polystyrene blank laminated with fiberglass and epoxy resin; polyester resin must not be applied directly over EPS because it attacks the foam. PU boards commonly use a wooden stringer to support strength and tune flex. EPS boards may use a wooden stringer or a stringerless construction with an alternative reinforcement layout, depending on the required flex, weight, and durability. Each construction should be confirmed against the target rider, price point, and intended use rather than treated as interchangeable.

  • Shape Details That Affect the Ride

The shape specification can include squash, round, pin, swallow, or diamond tails; single or double concave and vee bottom contours; and softer or harder rail profiles. These elements work together with outline, rocker, volume distribution, and fin placement. A squash tail is a versatile shortboard option, while a pin or rounded-pin outline reduces tail area for control in more powerful surf. Swallow tails are common on fish and other speed-focused shapes. Fin options can include FCS or Futures-compatible systems, but the two systems are not interchangeable. Configurations may include twin, thruster, quad, single-fin, 2+1, or five-fin convertible layouts, subject to the board design.

  • CNC Shaping with Hand-Finished Control

Approved digital files are transferred to CNC shaping for repeatable outlines, rockers, thickness profiles, and bottom contours. CNC machining establishes the geometry; trained technicians then hand-finish the blank, check rails and transitions, prepare the glassing schedule, install fin boxes, laminate, sand, finish, and apply graphics. This combination supports consistency across production while preserving the detailed finishing work required around rails, tails, concaves, and hardware zones.

  • Quality Control from Blank to Packaging

Quality checks should be tied to the approved sample and specification. Key controls include blank dimensions, rocker, width and thickness points, volume where measurable, symmetry, rail profile, bottom contour, stringer alignment where used, glassing quality, surface finish, fin-box position and alignment, artwork placement, finished weight tolerance, and packaging condition. The inspection level, sampling plan, acceptable tolerances, and any functional tests remain for each order.

  • Flexible MOQ and Production Planning

Programs can be structured for new collections, private-label ranges, schools, rental fleets, or established distribution channels. Minimum order quantity (MOQ), sample timing, production lead time, mixed-model loading, and shipping terms depend on construction, artwork, packaging, and order mix. Share your target models and quantities so we can confirm feasibility, sampling costs, production timing, and a factory quotation before you commit.

  • FAQ
  • What information do you need to quote custom surfboards?

Please send the board type, dimensions or volume range, target construction, estimated quantity, artwork requirements, packaging, destination, and any CAD files, drawings, or reference samples. We will identify any missing specifications before quoting.

  • Can you manufacture from our own surfboard designs?

Yes. We can evaluate CAD files, technical drawings, or a physical sample for OEM production. If you need development support, our ODM process can help translate a product brief into a sample-ready specification. Ownership, confidentiality, and file-control terms should be agreed before development.

  • Do you offer PU/polyester and EPS/epoxy construction?

Programs can be developed in traditional PU foam with polyester resin or EPS foam with epoxy resin, subject to specification confirmation. We do not pair polyester resin directly with EPS foam because the resin can attack the EPS core.

  • Which fin systems and setups are available?

FCS-compatible and Futures-compatible box systems may be specified. These systems are not interchangeable. Fin layouts can include twin, thruster, quad, single-fin, 2+1, or five-fin convertible configurations when appropriate for the shape.

Private-label graphics, logos, labels, deck treatments, and packaging are available to specification. Soft-top or foam surfboard construction, materials, dimensions, and minimum order quantity must be confirmed for the intended school, rental, beginner, or retail program.

  • Can you produce private-label and soft-top surfboards?

  • What are your MOQ, sample time, and production lead time?

MOQ is no required. Sample development is [10 days], and mass-production lead time is [40 days] after sample and artwork approval. Timing varies with construction, order mix, packaging, and production schedule.
